Scripture alone, Faith alone, Grace alone, Christ alone, To the glory of God alone

October 31 marks 500 years since Martin Luther nailed the 95 Theses to the door of the church in Wittenberg, Germany. This event is often seen as the start of the Reformation. Time Magazine ranks it as the third most important event in the last 1000 years. We are taking the month of October to explore the central teachings of the Reformation, which have become known as the five solae (or solas). Sola is the Latin word for “alone.” Luther and other reformers were concerned that the church had added something to each, faith and works, scripture and tradition, grace and indulgences, Christ and the saints, etc. and the solae represent a clarification of what the Bible teaches is needed for salvation and life.

All of these remain relevant to our lives today, as there are still efforts to combine them with something else for salvation and life. I pray that your faith will be strengthened as we explore what these mean and how they apply to us today. I hope you can join us for all five messages
